
Ceramic Technical Internships
Mudflat offers opportunities throughout the year for college students who are pursuing studies in ceramics to expand their knowledge of the technical side of clay with short and long term internships.

About our Ceramic Technical Internships
Our summer interns will be involved in all technical aspects of a working clay studio and school, including studio maintenance, clay recycling, slip and glaze mixing, loading and unloading electric and gas kilns. Electric and gas kiln firing is possible based on experience. Although interns receive unlimited studio access for claywork exploration, the internship's primary focus is not on providing instruction in building and throwing techniques. All training is provided by Mudflat’s technical staff.
Hours
20 hours per week, weekdays only; daily schedule to be determined, but should be available 4 or 5 days each week for 4-5 hours each day. May/June through August/September – to be determined with intern. Minimum commitment of 8 weeks.
Compensation
Compensation is barter for some materials and for 24 hour access to the studio, outside of internship requirements, to independently pursue your own claywork. Includes studio access, 25 lbs of clay with glazes and firings for every 2 weeks worked, shelf storage space, and opportunity to audit a Mudflat class.
Qualifications
We are looking for individual(s) currently enrolled in a college level ceramic arts program, with experience working in all asepects of a clay studio. Interest in learning ceramic technical skills is required; prior technical experience is encouraged.
