Visiting Artist Workshop: Carole Ann Fer

In this workshop Carole Ann will demonstrate throwing and altering of household wares while the clay is freshly formed using the wheel as both a power and hand tool. Exploration and articulation of participants’ personal styles will be incorporated, with some hands-on exercises in drawing, writing and clay along with the demonstrations.

"My work is thrown soft on the potter's wheel to convey the malleable nature inherent in the material. When I alter, or reshape a piece, it is in the immediacy of the wet stage to enhance its pliable qualities."

Carole Ann Fer has been a studio potter for more than half her life. She taught with great enthusiasm at Mudflat for over 12 year before moving to Deer Isle, ME. Carole Ann is co-owner of Dowstudio & Gallery with Ellen Wieske. She is honored to have a cameo appearance at Mudflat and help inaugurate the new building. www.dowstudiodeerisle.com/CAF.html
