How’s Your Body Doing?

Making pots is hard work. Every potter has developed a toolkit of "body habits" to help her or him sustain the work of creating in clay. In this workshop we will take a look at what is working well for you and then we will play with some fresh approaches to using your body to make your pots. Our goal is to find pathways to more ease and enjoyment for you, and pots that reflect the same. Plan to reflect on how you work, experiment with movement, and apply new skills to potting.

Wear soft, comfortable clothing that is easy to move in, and bring an exercise mat or big towel. You will also need to bring your clay tools. Clay will be provided.

Marilyn Stern is a potter's partner. Her training is in The Alexander Technique and Asian Bodywork. She has taught potters at Penland School of Crafts and currently teaches musicians at Berklee College of Music.

Tuition: $100.00, members $50.00

Saturday, October 29, 1 - 4 pm
